Charles George
Heiltsuk artist Charles George, originally from Bella Bella, is an accomplished wood carver working with mostly traditional forms but with his own personal style.
His pieces, while clearly being his own unique representation of his culture, show a strong emphasis on his and his peoples’ beliefs in a contemporary context.
They are the result of a lifetime’s experience working with the symbols, tools and materials that form the basis of the indigenous art found throughout the Pacific Northwest of what we now call North America.
